Hi John

The weather was really against us for the first part of the week with temperatures up to low 30,s and the fish hadn't seen too much bait for a couple of weeks.
We did manage to catch 16 fish which included,
1 x 50 mirror 51:09
6 x 40,s  which included mirrors to 49:12 ,49:08,49:08,48 and a 49:04common
5 x 30,s mirrors to 39:12
4 x 20,s mirror to 29 and commons to 29

I know the lake has suffered a bit from the weed but with the addition of the Dyofix(blue) we all noticed that by the end of the week there was many patches of floating weed and silkweed appearing around the lake. So it does look like that the Dyofix has started to help with the weed issue.

WORK PARTY

We had a work party there last week because of the weed problem as with these mild winters the weed just doesn't die back in the winter months as it should ,This causes a bigger prob in the summer months as the weed gets much thicker than one would want, so after a lot of research and observing the results in some of the major lakes in France and the U.K we decided on the use of DyoFix Lake colours which work by Blocking the sun so restricting the weed growth but does no harm to the fish and the lakes we know that have used it say there fishing has improved, the only difference the angler will notice is that the water is a deep sea blue, and we are sure the fishing will improve in the coming seasons. We just thought the anglers coming to our venue should be aware of what we are doing.
The work party done very well four of them between them banking five fifty's to 55lb twelve forty's to 49lb fourteen thirty's to 39lb and two twenty's at 28lb each and they all used Casenlac Bait rolled Fresh on the Lake.

Hi John,
Here is a rundown of our results for 2017

A total of 25 carp, 1 pike and a DUCK !

1 x 63 lb
6 x 50 lb (up to 58 lb)
9 x 40 lb (up to 48 lb)
5 x 30 lb (up to 35 lb)
4 x 20 lb (up to 26 lb)

Matt - had a cracking start to a great week for him, with a new lake record common
           of 58 lb+
Matt continued with mirrors of - 52 lb, 51 lb,45 lb, 25 lb, 22 lb.
and commons of - 42 lb, 35 lb.

Stephen - (Matt's Father) - After blanking all week with no signs of fish in his swim, moved on the
Wednesday and caught his first Cas en lac carp at 63 lb
Followed by the second biggest common in the lake at 55 lb
He finished the week with another 48 lb mirror and a 32 lb common.
A session to remember for the Hill family !

Andy- Had a great week, catching steadily throughout and ending up with mirrors of -
           47 lb, 45 lb, 40 lb, 40 lb, 26 lb, 23 lb and a common of 40 lb 10 oz

Ian -   Started well with a 40 lb mirror and added a 30 lb mirror by the end of the week.

Dai -   Who had fish in front of him all week. struggled to get a take - after a lot of
head banging, managed a 32 lb mirror by the end of the week.

Tom -  With no signs of fish in his swim, stood his ground until Thursday, moved swim and caught
a cracking 51 lb mirror to save his blank.

John-  Who only visited for 2 nights, didn't manage to catch this year, but was on hand to help Andy
           with some photo's.

Greg- Stared off with a 31 lb mirror on the first night and a 50 lb mirror on the Monday night.
With no fish showing in the swim all week, no further carp were caught, but did manage a
small Jack pike and a duck - thanks to Paul for getting the boat out and unhooking the duck from a tree !

A great week enjoyed by all, the usual big thanks to Paul and Vinnie

          Photos attached,
Dai and Ian didn't take any and Tom is still out in France fishing for a few more weeks - will
forward his photo on his return.

Hi John,
Here's a quick run down of our results from our 2016 session

A total of 17 carp up to 57 lb

Tom started off a great session with a 57 lb+ mirror

After a couple of slow days, he finished the week

in style, with a further 6 carp.

Tom - Mirrors of 57 lb, 53 lb, 46 lb, 46 lb, 42 lb, 35 lb

and a common of 28 lb

Matt - With a move on the Tuesday after blanking in peg 6 , ended up

with commons of 44 lb, 27 lb and 25 lb

John - Who only fished for 2 night, managed to land himself mirrors of

38 lb, 30 lb and 26 lb

Dai - Had fish showing all week, but couldn't get a take, ended up with

a nice common of 44 lb

Ian - Had a very relaxing session, chilling out and enjoying the atmosphere

No runs from carp, but he did a few miles running around Talensac !

Greg - Finally managed to get his first 50+ from Cas en lac after 6 years of trying

ending up with mirrors of 51 lb, 40 lb and 32 lb

As usual an enjoyable week, with the tree blossom floating on the surface making

things difficult and resembling a snow fall on times.

Thanks to Paul and Vinnie for their usual hospitality, and to Paul for making the bait

Already looking forward to 2017 !

Tom still out in France for a few weeks, so his photo's to follow.

Hi john
Firstly , apologies for the delay in getting the report to you , I'm in the middle of a move !
Our party arrived to be greeted by the usual abuse from Paul lol , " the old farts fishing" week always begins that way.
The week started very well with a few fish on the first night . But the weather was so changeable , frosts at night and a cool variable breeze during the day .
The fish were not keen to play and seemed to move to one end of the lake .
Dave and Paul were the most successful members of the group although everyone caught at least one fish .
The mid 60, being the highlight of the week , with a fifty to Neil , Paul , and 2 to Dave.
18 fish in total were banked which was nowhere near our best week but we booked our trip a lot earlier this year than previously , I understand the weather and temperatures have taken a tumble again for this week and it's been even harder ! So in fact we had quite a good week .
In any case it is always a wonderful lake to visit and knowing what fantastic fish live in there is always the incentive to return for more .
Regards
Dave, Nick, Paul, Andy , Neil , & Trev.

hi john, our week at cas en lac was very enjoyable but probably the wettest august the lake has ever seen!! We actually set up in scorching sun on the saturday after a pleasant drive down from saint Malo. Bob in 12 was quick to register a 49lb fish on the first night along with a couple more 40’s, the rest of us were pretty quiet and it was obvious the fish were holed up in the weed in front of 12. Derron in 11 had a run that night but suffered a hook pull in the dark. THE next 2 days were quiet for us all apart from bob in 12 who with his knowledge of the lake continued to catch every night with another spawned out fish of 49lb too. I decided to up sticks from swim 3 and move into swim 5 where there was another abundance of weed and by the colour of the water in the morning it was obvious they were feeding there. After listening to Paul and ditching the spod and particle apart from a little maize i gave the fish a couple kilos boilie to feed on, at first light i received my first bite form a 28lb fish and the smallest to be caught that week! i was happy to be off the mark and news spread that derron in 11 had, had a 49lb fish. the next few days went quite for bob in 12, and i continued to catch regually at different times of the day and night and caught 8 fish altogether from 5 including 3 40’s and a 52lb fish, all were caught tight to weed beds and by getting on the rods quick no fish were lost. Then on weds afternoon we got phonecall from bungle in swim 2 that he had a corker in the net, so we all reeled in and went for a look and to take pics and share a beer! the fish went on the scales and the needle settled for 65lb 4 oz!!!! a proper belter! Bob had another 30 on sat morning and im sure he would have had more as the fish seemed to move back into the main body of water after the sunshine on friday, which was a relief to get everything dry! Then on friday night dick moved from a fruitless swim 1 to 5 for the night and managed a 43lb fish at last knockings, great timing!! All in all we all had a brilliant week despite the downpours and look forward to returning in the near future. Thanks to Paul for his hospitality

Hi john
Returned last night from our latest " old farts fishin" trip.

Jonesy always takes the rise cos we all ancient !
We had a thoroughly
enjoyable time yet again although the weed was pretty well up all over
the lake, Paul said he had never seen it that bad .
Didn't stop us
giving it a good go and the results were as follows,
1x50, 7x40s,
16x30s, and 3x 20s.
Not too shabby for a bunch of pensioners .

Will be
in touch soon to book our next trip
All the best from Neil , Andy ,
Dave , George , Paul , and Trev.
Morning John
Enjoyed our week just ended at the lake and am wondering what is available for late April /early May next year ?
Will book as soon as I can get a date that the others can agree to !
Thanks to you and Paul for a stunning venue and some cracking hard fighting fish .
Regards
Trev TAPP ! Lol, you got trapp on the website .

Hi John,
Here is a quick run down of our week on Cas en lac.

A total of 12 fish -

1 x 20

6 x 30's

4 x 40's

1 x 50
An unusually quiet start to the week, with hardly any fish showing and everyone struggling.
Andy made a good start on the Sunday, banking a common of 46 lb+, but things didn't show any signs of improving until midweek.
Andy - had his 46 lb+ common on the Sunday, but struggled to bank any fish for the rest of the week.
John - started his session on the Tuesday evening, with a cracking 53 lb+ mirror. This was followed up on Thursday with 30 lb+ and 27 lb+ mirrors.
Matt - on his first visit to Cas en lac, had his first fish on the Thursday a 34 lb+ mirror, followed up on the Friday with a 34 lb+ common and a 32 lb+ mirror as he was packing up.
Greg - with no fish showing until the Thursday, kicked off in the early hours of Friday morning with 2 fish on at the same time a 31 lb+ common and a 40 lb+ mirror. before being able to re-cast, a third rod goes off with a 37 lb+ common.
Saturday morning saw 2 more fish, with 44 lb+ and 46 lb+ mirrors on the bank.
Tom and Dai - struggled to get a take all week, with fish occasionally showing in their swims but none seeming to want to feed.
We all had a great time and look forward to our session next year.

As usual, a big "thank you" to Paul for the bait and his usual hospitality.

Best wishes,

Greg Colvin

John

Last week at the lake was a strange one !

We had a great time as usual but the fishing for most of us was dire (you have probably heard from Paul)

Of the seven of us 3 blanked, 1 caught 3, two others had 1 each and the last one had 33 of which if I remember correctly were 5 fifties, 11 forties plus whatever. What a week for him they seemed to be all stacked up in front of Him Hardly a fish showed anywhere else on the lake.

But we still enjoyed it. That's fishing.

Can you let me know what's available for next year similar time April/May.

Thanks

Kev

Every time I go there I like it even more.
All the guys (6), enjoyed
their week and plenty
of banter with Paul jones.
Unfortunately two of
our group blanked except
for bream and tench , but the rest had some good sport In total we banked 9x20s, 8x30s, 7x40s, 4x50s, and a 37.08 grass carp, oh , I nearly forgot Dave had a 10lb 12 oz tench which jonesy said is a lake record lol Thanks again for a good week I will be in touch With you to book for next year, pics to follow as soon as I can get the guys to send em to me Regards Trev Tapp

Hi John,
Just a quick line to give you a run down of our 2014 session on Cas en lac.
As usual we had a great week - all of our party caught, with a couple of nice fish on the bank.
No fifties out this week - but we had some consolation with..... 2 x 60's !!!!!!

A total of 19 carp, ranging from 34 lb+ to 64 lb 8 oz.
2 x 60's
9 x 40's
8 x 30's

Andy - bent into 4 fish, with 3 x 30's (including 2 x 39 lb+) and the fish of the week at --- 64 lb 8 oz !!
Tom - did the bizz, with 3 fish to 63 lb !!
Ian - (on his last carping session) kept up his catch rate with 4 fish to 46 lb including a 44 lb+ common.
Dai - got off to a flying start, with 2 x 40's, but struggled to catch for the rest of the week.
John - pulled another 40 lb+ out of the bag, but struggled to get another take, even with a move to another swim.
(Fair play to John - at 78 years young, he can still cut the Dijon)
Greg - started off the week with a bream on each rod, but eventually started carping on the Wednesday night, banking mirrors of -
34 lb+, 36 lb+, 38 lb+, 45 lb+ and a 42 lb+ common.

As usual, a big thanks to Paul, who still managed to make us 25k of his lake boilies, even though he was in pain with a bad back.

Great session - already booked for next year.
I have attached some photo's of Andy's 64 lb 8 oz mirror.
Tom is still fishing somewhere in France and will send me the photo's of his 63 lb mirror on his return.
I will forward the others as soon as I receive them, but Dai and Ian did not photograph their fish.

Thanks again,
Best wishes,

Hi John

Excellent week as always at Cas en Lac. It was pretty wet but who cares when you are catching!
Jason bagged up with 28 carp including 3x40lb with a PB 48lb Common. Next up was John with 11 carp, including 51 and 55lb kippers - the last caught as we were packing up on Saturday morning.
Piers on his first visit to the lake had three fish including a PB 44lb Mirror plus a PB 37lb Grass Carp (sorry no piccies). Stewart was more than pleased with his three mirrors including 45lb and 47lb fish. Big John, again on his first visit to the lake, produced a PB 37lb Mirror.
And to prove if the fish are not in your swim and its not an easy lake we had two guests who blanked - but vowing they will be back. As indeed we all will be.
Thanks for a wonderful week.

Hi John,
Here's our catch report from last week.

A group of seven of us fished and although it proved to be quite a tricky week for most of us, we all caught. and ended with a total of 17 fish. Ryan got things going with a 39lbs pb mirror from Church point on Sunday morning, then Paul started catching from swim 1 and ended up with 10 fish, including 5 x 30's, a 46 and a 53lbs 10oz - a fantastic send off for Paul who is emigrating later this year so this may be his last ever French trip! Stuart banked his first 2 french fish of 46lbs and then 50lbs 10oz, Toby, Mark, John and myself had to wait until the end of the week but all banked fish, with John catching at 8am on Saturday, just as we were getting ready to leave!
Thanks for another great week at Casenlac. Was great to see Paul and Vinny again and we are already planning a return for 2015!
Pics of Paul and Stuarts 50's attached.

Many Thanks

Hi John,

With five first timers in the group there was alot of excitement about our trip. All loved the lake.
Having walked round the lake it was apparent that most the fish seemed to be in front of 10,8,5 and in 6. A cold northerly wind had been blowing for a couple of days prior.
The mandatory draw was eagerly anticipated with Dave being last to draw but having first pick. Six was chosen to the disappointment of many of us.
12,11,10,5 and 1 were also chosen.
The cold nights on Saturday and Sunday, down to 5 degrees meant action was had.
The milder weather and rain for the rest of the week slowed the action down a little and although pipes bay has been renamed the boshing bay most fish were only being caught during darkness.
We ended the week with 19 in total and lost four others.
Three fifties to 55, six forties, nine thirties and a twenty.
Dave swim 6, 34.06,34.01,41 common,25.11 common, 53.02 and 32.02
Jason swim 5/4 blank.
Colin swim 1, 34.12, 47, 36.4 all commons, 40.12, 36 common and 47.4
Sid swim 12, 34, 51.10 and 35
Cliff swim 11, 40.4 common
Rob swim 10, 34, 43 and a new pb 55.12
Great week had by all, pics will follow. Colin

Fished the week 17th to the 24th August, what a good week we all had, Lovely Venue in a nice quiet area. Fishing was slow due to the hot weather (up in the mid thirties most days!), However, despite this we still had some nice fish. A few 30's and 40's, a 55 and a 62. Big thanks to Paul. Good lake and facilities. We all had a great time and are looking forward to coming back next Year. Thanks for everything...

Hi john, just got back and it was very very hot in the daytime 35c on
average, as you can imagine it was also slow during the day so we
decided to fish at night time only, between the 6 of us we netted 18
fish and the biggest being just over 50lb considering the conditions I
thought this was ok, mike in swim 6 had his PB of 41lb, terry was in 10
and had a 44'8 then moved to 12 and netted 7 others all in there 30s,
chris was in 5 and netted 3 all in there 30s, dean was in 3 and had the
prize winner 50lb only fish he had, poor old alan was in 1 and fished
his socks off but not a sausage, and I was in 11 with 3 in the net all
in there 30s biggest being 39lb common. Another year over roll on next
year TIGHT LINES. Ps pic attached above is mikes 41 and more pics to

hi John

got back last yesterday from casenlac, my third visit and i am never tired of this place , what a stunning venue and a credit to how you guys are running the lake . there is plenty of water for each swim to fish and overcrowding will never be an issue.
anyway on to the catch
report.
6 of us were in the party that we named "the geriatrics" , paul made jokes about charging up mobility scooters and zimmer frames etc , you know how he takes the p..s out of everyone.
we caught a total of 20
fish with the biggest at 56.8lbs
the breakdown is as follows
trev
mirrors of 46.8, 40, 37.12, 37, 26.8, 24.8, and common of 33 lbs andy mirrors of 56.8, 54, 34, and commons of 32, 29.
dave mirrors of 53, 37,
32, 28.4, and common of 46.8
craig commons of 35.2, 31.14
paul mirror
of 43.4
and phil despite his best effort alas blanked.

the weather was
pretty extreme on a couple of days and one particular day we had 3 massive hailstorms and only a couple of dry days.
we toally enjoyed our
week and the other fellas (for whom it was the first time) were over the moon with the experience.

i will be in touch to book for next year although paul told me that he is introducing a maximum age limit of 50 yrs lol !!!!

cheers john

Hi John

Herewith our Catch Report for last week. Will forward piccies of the 65 later today when I have unpacked.

Jason will be in touch to see if we can book the same week next year.

Kind Regards

Dave
We were greeted with a hailstorm for this our fifth visit to the lake. Paul advised us the fishing was FC. – just what you need to hear!! Twenty four hours later and one fish on the bank, we agreed!! It was FC.

Monday produced seven carp for Jason before lunch, including a 56Lb clonker.

Tuesday saw Paul with a PB 54lb, plus a 34lb Grass carp to end the perfect day for him.

The skies were laden with rain on Wednesday and the walkie talkie airwaves laden with budding DJ’s convinced we really really wanted to hear yet another rendition of Queen or Adele!

Steve produced his 53lb on Thursday – surprising as up until then his speciality spod mix was a night and day bream magnet.

The sunniest day dawned on Friday. Midway through the afternoon and John, who most people forgot was still fishing, lifted a 65lb monster. Using rods he made himself and Pauls coconut boillies produced the new lake record. Job done!

Cast of the week went to Jason in Peg 1 who hoofed a marker float with 4oz lead clear over to the island on Peg 12 – narrowly missing Dave who was quietly making a brew.

Merci to Paul who provided the jump leads to start a dead battery – otherwise we were quite happy to stay another week.

Lake Record at 65lb

Hi John,
Just a quick line to thank you and Paul for our session this year on Cas en lac and to let you know the results for the week. Still waiting for the photo's from the boys - will send them as soon as I get them.

A total of 16 fish including 2 - 50's,

John - Fished hard with fish rolling in front of him, but struggled to get a take.
Dai - Gave us all a lesson in fishing with his new "Spomb" and will be bringing out a best selling book on bream fishing in France !
Ian - Found the commons and pulled out a 40 + and the lake biggie at 51 lb + in amongst some back up 30lb+ and 20lb+ mirrors.
Tom - Started well, with the first fish of the week being a 50 + mirror, followed by some back up 30lb+ and 20lb+ mirrors.
Andy - Ended up with 2 - 30+ morrors and a 20+ mirror.
Greg - A move on the Wednesday resulted in 2 fish, 31lb and 43lb mirrors.

As usual, a big thanks to Paul and Vinnie for all their help and hospitality.
Dai especially appreciated Pauls help with drinking his beer - Dai couldn't have coped without him !
While Tom was woken each morning by Vinnie, who was eager to help him finish his biscuits off !
We have already booked for next year and are all looking forward to our 2014 session.

Thanks again and good health,
Greg Colvin

Hi John,
The first half of the week was slow with fish showing but not really feeding but this is due to all the cold weather we have been having. We only had 3 fish up to the Wednesday evening!!! But as soon as the water warmed up it started fishing well and we had 13 fish in 2 days and 3 nights!!Everything around the lake is now starting to green up and the fish are now very active so im looking forward to reading of some very good catches in the coming weeks.
I will be touch shortly to book again for next year as I know your getting very busy now.
Im looking forward to getting back out in august and having a few more out!!
Nick Ring
P.s we had 16 fish in total :-)

Hi John

Just returned & thought Id send you & Paul a huge thanks for last week in Cas-en-lac. Its the 1st time Ive been back in 5 years & it seems nothings changed, The lake, the facilities, & Pauls baliffing skills are all still spot on.

I had a hat full of fish all caught on your bevosbait dominator bait, the highlights being 37 1/2

A fantastic week had by all and a corker for Nick with two fities and four forties to make up his twenty one banked fish not sayin too much as Nick is sending his own report that ill print as soon as I get it.All the Lads used casenlac bait as there free bee's and most used bevosbaits as their hook baits
Hi John,

Just to say we all had another fantastic week at Casenlac!! we have booked again for next year and that will be my second trip of the year.

Even though the fish spawned quite late(end of July) there weights were just a taster for whats to come!!!! we had mirrors up to 59lb!!!!! and commons to 41lb and at a guess the fish were at least 3-4lb down on there best weights!!!!

We banked a true leather at 50lb and Oz's which this time last year I caught at 42lb!!!!! the fish has a huge frame so lots more to come from this one I think!!!

As you have reported I managed 21 fish in total and didn't really fish the days!!! I was using Paul's lake rolled crab as freebies and fishing a combination of his baits topped with Bevosbait skunk garlic and blackcurrant pop ups and also Bevosbait pineapple pop ups!

I have got most of the guys pics now and Im just waiting for a couple more which I will send across to you.

Hi John

We have just got back from our 6th trip to the lake and the stamp of fish just keep getting bigger.

When we arrived and chatted to the previous group there had been a 57lb from swim 11 and 20 fish from swim 6 with a few from swim 7 when they moved in there for the last night. I knew that swim 6 or 7 were going to be the swims to get into even though the lads said that they thought the fish were moving out of the bay.

I came out 5 of 7 in the draw but to my amazement I managed to get into swim 7!!! There were still fish in there and I banked a 47lb after a few hours of fishing and this continued all week.

When we got to Wednesday everyone apart from me and Trev in swim 4 was blanking but then it switched on for the top end of the lake with every swim seeing fish on the bank. The following list from the swims and lads goes....

Chutney (swim 1): 48.14, 42.8c, 36.14, 25, 23

Trev (swim 4): 42.14, 38.9 grassy

Martin (swim 12): 55.14, 32.4, 29.4

Jason (swim 11): 51.15, 39.15c, 34.14

Nev (swim 10): 35.8, 34.7

Spraggy (swim 2): 25.4, 42.14

Steve (swim 7): 47.11, 47.1, 47, 45.8, 43.12, 40.5, 39.7, 38.1, 35.1, 35, 34.10, 34.3c, 32.14c, 31.4c, 30.7, 30.4, 30.1, 30.1, 29.5c, 28.14, 26.2, 25.4c, 23.7, 23.12c, 23.11c, 23.1, 22.9, 22, 21.1, 19.9 fully scaled!!!

We banked a total of 47 carp total weight of 1630lb+ and a red letter week for me with the new lake record of 30 fish.

Thanks again as we all had a brilliant week and will deffo be back soon.

cheers... Steve

Hi John

Although we only managed to catch 18 fish between 6 of us,the quality of them was fantastic!!
We had;
3x50s to 57,56.14 and 50.04 mirrors
4x40s to 49.03,48.07,48.04 mirrors and a 41.10 common
5x30s to 39.05 com
6x20s to 29.10
As this shows the fish are really piling on the weight and there will soon be even more 50s!

The new shower/toilet is a brilliant job!!

As always we all had a great week and I will be in contact soon to book again for next year!!

Now roll on September when I'm over there again

Nick Ring

Hi All and Have a great New Year

Not a report just letting you all know about the 2 sixties that come out late last year they are our first and we are well pleased as you can imagine.the biggest fish in tha first sticking back in 2003 was around 24 to 26lb and a few 30's were introduced in 2003 so we are well pleased with the growth rate and patience has paid off The bigger fish were banked fairly regular last year and our own Casenlac bait accounted for a lot of them available on the lake fresh at 8 euros per kilo minimum order 2.5 kilo.s. also bevosbait (www.bevosbait.com) accounted for a lot of fish over the year there is a link for bevosbait on this site.

Well there must be a dozen 50's in the lake and quite a few are upper fiftys so its more than likly theres a coulpe more new sixties comeing out in 2012 besides the two already there.

So we are pleased as I have already said about fish growth but Paul(co-owner) must take some credit for the upkeep and welfair of the fish as well as the way he looks after the lake all the year round.

Well no more news as yet will keep you all informed. And please send me any reports and photos of your trips on Cas-en-Lac so they can be put on here for other anglers to see.
